AND TIMES
"Say kids, what time is it? It's Howdy Doody time!” These lines were heard at the beginning of The Howdy Doody Show, which aired from 1947-1960. Originally called Puppet Playhouse Theater, the series laid the groundwork for future children's programming and was the first program to air five times a week on a regular basis. Buffalo Bob Smith hosted the show, and Howdy Doody and the gang entertained the kids in the Peanut Gallery. Also featured were popular characters Phineas T. Bluster (the Mayor of Doodytown), Clarabell the Clown, Princess Summerfall Winterspring, and Chief Thunderthud.
